How Can severe Cough Along With Throat Pain Be Treated?
There is a 18 year boy that comes to our house a lot. He talks to himself a lot. He also growls and makes noises like clearing his throat but very loud. He drools sometimes and he can t sit still very long. Then sometimes he ll cough then yells. His Mother and Father moved off and left him. Is he any danger to my husband or myself. We really like him but don t know what to do for him.
Hi, I understand your concern and wish to clear your doubts.
There could be many reasons for cough with throat pain. It could be a simple sore throat or tonsillitis or pharyngitis (viral or bacterial). If cough is associated with sputum along with fever for more than 2 weeks, then its better to have his sputum test done at district TB centre. In some cases chronic sinusitis may cause post nasal drip and it may the reason for cough. For proper evaluation of his condition its better to get examined by a good ENT surgeon to rule out any cause in upper respiratory tract. In mean time ask him to do steam inhalation, warm water with salt gargling, over the counter throat lozenges can be used twice dialy. Antibiotics may be necessary but only after examination by a doctor.
Hope this has helped you. I wish him a speedy recovery.
